One man injured after motorcyle crash on Cabot Trail

A man is being flown to hospital after a motorcycle crash in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

A section of the Cabot Trail was closed for several hours while police investigated

A man has been airlifted to hospital after a motorcycle crash on the Cabot Trail in northern Cape Breton this morning, according to the RCMP.

Police were called to the area between Pleasant Bay and the MacKenzie Mountain lookoff in Cape Breton Highlands National Park around 11 a.m.

The RCMP have little information on what happened to the man.

It's not clear if he stuck another vehicle, went off the road, or simply fell over while driving.

There is no cellphone reception in the area making it difficult for officers to relay information back to base.

It's also not clear what kind of injuries the man sustained.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Traffic was turned away from the scene of the crash, according to people in the area. The road between Pleasant Bay and the MacKenzie Mountain lookoffwas closed for several hours while police investigated.

An RCMP accident reconstructionist was also on theirway to the scene.
