Man found in North Preston car trunk was victim of homicide, police say

RCMPhave identified aman who was found dead in the trunk of acar in a North Preston, N.S., cemetery.

The body of TylorDonovan McInnis, 26, of Halifax was discovered by police on Tuesday. He was the victim of a homicide, RCMP confirmed on Wednesday afternoon following an autopsy.

His body was foundin the trunk of a stolen carleft in the St. Thomas Baptist Church cemetery on Upper GovernorStreet.

"Our thoughts are not only with determining what happened here, but also with the family of this individual," RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dal Hutchinson said Wednesday afternoon.

Looking for connections torecenthomicides

The homicide was not a random act, and police have no one in custody and no suspects, Hutchinson said.

Police are looking into connections between this homicideand a string ofshooting deaths that took place in the Halifax area this spring, he said.Hutchinson said the public is not in danger.

He said police are notdisclosinghow McInnis diedwhile the investigation is ongoing.

No weapon found

A black Honda Civic was reported stolen at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday and police found the car and body shortly afterward.

Hutchinson could not say whether McInnis was killed elsewhere and his body taken to North Preston.

The cemetery was cordoned off with police tape on Wednesday. Police have not found a weapon, Hutchinson said.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
