Nova Scotia Health Authority offers advice in case of Canada Post lockout

If you're waiting for a notice from your doctor in the mail, give them a call instead.

That's the message in most cases from the Nova Scotia Health Authority, as a possible lockoutat Canada Post threatens delivery service.

"Our organization would be impacted by a mail delivery,"Margaret Angus, spokesperson withNSHA, said in a statement.

Common items sent or received in themail by Nova Scotia health professionals include appointment notifications or reminders, patient reports to physiciansand items such as colon cancer home-screening kits.

For those screening kits, the NSHA recommends dropping it off at a lab or reception desk at any of the NSHA hospitals.

For patient appointments, the health authority says service providers will call patients and clients to book them.

If a patient is expecting an appointment notice or reminder, and hasn't received it yet, the NSHA says they should call their doctor's office or the appropriate service provider instead.
