Reward offered in homicide of Glace Bay woman

A reward is being offered for information that solves the homicide of a young woman from Glace Bay four years ago.

Brett Elizabeth MacKinnon, 21, was last seen by her boyfriend in June 2006 and was reported missing by her mother the next month.

Her skeletal remains were found two years later in a wooded area just outside of town.

Nova Scotia's Justice Department, under itsRewards for Major Unsolved Crimes program, is offering $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for her death.

"I urge anyone with information to please come forward to police. No piece of information is too trivial," Justice Minister Ross Landry said Friday.

"We want to see criminals brought to justice and be able to bring closure to the family of the late Ms. MacKinnon."

Anyone with information about this case can call the Department of Justice, Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, toll-free at 1-888-710-9090.

Anyone with information must be prepared to reveal their name and may have to testify in court.

The province's rewards program was launched in October 2006 and includes 62 unsolved cases.
