Search for missing boater in Cape Breton called off

The search for a missing man, whose overturned boat was found early Saturday morning in an Acadian community in Cape Breton, has been called off.

The search for a missing man, whose overturned boat was found early Saturday morning in an Acadian community in Cape Breton, has been called off.

At around 7:30 a.m. Richmond County RCMP responded to a report of an overturned boat the was found at the mouth of Petit-de-Grat harbour.

After further investigation, police determined that a 43-year-old man, presumed to have been on the boat, was last seen Saturday around 6 a.m.

Richmond County RCMP and members of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, as well as local fishermen and boaters, were helping with the search.

The case was handed over to the RCMP.

A Cormorant helicopter from CFB Greenwood was also on hand to help.
