Man charged after 30-year-old stabbed near Dartmouth motel

A 30-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following an overnight stabbing in Dartmouth, N.S.

Incident occurred early Wednesday morning on Lake Crest Drive

A 47-year-old man is set to appear in provincial court on Thursday to face five charges related to a stabbing in Dartmouth, N.S., early Wednesday.

Halifax Regional Police said Wednesday that officers arrived on the scene of the stabbing near Lake City Motel onLake Crest Drivejust after 3 a.m.

The victim was takento the hospitalwhile the male suspect, whom police said was known to the victim, fled the scene in a vehicle.The victim, a30-year-old man, remainsin hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The vehiclewas spotted on Wyse Roadaround4 a.m., police said.When theyattempted to stop the vehicle the driver refused,and crashed shortly after innearby Chelsie Probert Park.

He was arrested and taken to hospital but was believed to be uninjured,said Const. John MacLeod.

According to a police release Thursday, he will face charges of attempted murder,possession of a weapon dangerous to the public,theft of a motor vehicle,flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a conveyance.
