As part of her duties as bridge commissioner,Coun. Jennifer Watts climbed thetower of Halifax's Angus L.MacdonaldBridge and snapped this picture.

"Totally awesome," she said."It is hard to believe how this bridge was built in the 1950s without all the technology we have today."

Bridge renos

The bridgebetween Dartmouth and Halifax will undergo major renovations in 2015.The road deck, floor beams, trusses and cables all need to be replaced.

The projectis expected to take a year and a half to complete. The massive job will see the bridge shut down to traffic between 7 p.m. each evening and re-opening at 5:30 a.m. the next morning.

The Angus L. MacdonaldBridge was opened in 1955 and was named after the premier who was instrumental in the bridge being built.
