Two more arrests in Shawn Jack's North Sydney beating

Cape Breton police have arrested two more people in the case of a homeless man who was beaten in North Sydney, N.S., last week, and say they believe a wrench was used in the brutal attack.

Cape Breton Regional Police have arrested two more people in the case of a homeless man who was beaten in North Sydney, N.S., last week, and say they believe a wrench was used in the brutal attack.

The two men were arrested Saturday, bringing to six the number of suspects related to the attack on Shawn Jack.

Police say Northside residents James Darren Clarke, 34, and Gordon William Bobbitt, 47, have been charged with obstruction of justice and remain in custody pending court appearances Monday.

Police also searched a home on King Street in North Sydney on Saturday and say they found a wrench and a bandana they believe was used during the assault.

This follows the arrest of three people last week; Kyle William Nichol, 25, of North Sydney, Jennifer MacLeod, 22, of Boularderie and a 16-year-old girl all face charges of aggravated assault and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence.

Nichol, who is due to appear in court July 31, is also charged with attempted murder. MacLeod is due in court on Monday for a bail hearing.

Police are still looking for one suspect, Cory Patrick Blinkhorn, and have issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest. The 22-year-old is accused of attempted murder, aggravated assault and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence.

Jack was found severely injured in a grocery store parking lot on King Street onMonday evening, near where he sometimes camped with his dog,Chico. The 48-year-old was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

A Little Pond, N.S., woman launched an online fundraiser for Jack on Thursday. By Sunday morning, more than $15,000 had been raised through a crowdfunding account on gofundme.com.
