Darrin Natolino resigns as Halifax winter operations superintendent

Darrin Natolino, the man who bore much of the criticism over Halifax's storm response last winter, has resigned.

Coun. David Hendsbee says he received resignation email from Natolino on Friday afternoon

Darrin Natolino, the man who bore much of the criticism over Halifax's storm response last winter, has resigned.

Darrin Natolino, Halifax's embattled winter operations superintendent, has found a new job.

"I can confirm that Winter Operations Superintendent Darrin Natolino has accepted another position and will be leaving the municipality later this month," said Breton Murphy, the city's manager of public affairs.

Murphy said Natolino's last day will be Oct. 16.

He said the city is working on an interim management plan until the superintendent position can be filled.

Coun. David Hendsbee told CBC News he received an email informing him of Natolino's resignation this afternoon.

Natalino took a lot of heat last winter as residents complained about Halifax's snow-clearing efforts or lack of them.

CBC News has been unable to reach Natolino for comment on why he resigned and where he will be working in the future.
