Amy Paul homicide: police announce $50,000 reward

Ottawa police have announceda $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and prosecution in the September death of Amy Paul.

Ottawa police released details of thereward Thursday, just over threemonths afterPauls partially-clothed, decomposing body was found by a farmerin a rural south Ottawa hay field on Sept. 17.

Paul had disappeared from her home in the Vanier area earlier in the month. Relatives told CBC News she worked in the sex trade.

Ottawa police Staff Sgt. Bruce Pirtsaid the major crimes unit hasinterviewed dozens of witnesses, but have yet to gather key evidence needed for an arrest.

'Someone out there has a piece of information'

"I know there is someone out there that has a piece of information, and just maybe, this reward will prompt them to come forward," Pirt said.

"I believe that Amy Paul had a difficult, difficult life leading up to her death. She basically lived hand to mouth on the street."

Police are also consulting an entomologist to try to narrow down the time of Paul's death.
