Blueline taxi drivers reach deal with Coventry Connections

Blueline taxi drivers have reached an agreement with Coventry Connection over dispatching services after nearly two weeks of withholding fees.

More than 80 per cent of drivers voted to accept a "reduction in service fees, anincrease in access to customers and an improvement in technology support" on Friday evening, according to a news release.

The agreement does not include Capital taxi drivers, who also began withholding fees for the dispatch service and for the use of private taxi stands across Ottawaon Aug. 1.

Meanwhile, airport taxi drivers continue to belockedout by theirtheir dispatcher, Coventry Connections, for the fifth consecutive day.

Drivers refuse to accept anincrease in fees caused by a change in their payment structure, which was negotiated between Coventry Connections and the Ottawa Airport Authority.

On Friday, a judge ordered airport taxi drivers to limit protests to 10 vehicles and 20 people, for a maximum of 18 hours per day with no electronic amplification, after theairport authority soughtan injunction.
