Cyclist hit on Ogilvie Road dies

A cyclist who was struck by a vehicle on Ogilvie Road Tuesday has died, Ottawa police said Friday morning.

A cyclist who was struck by a vehicle on Ogilvie Road Tuesday has died, Ottawa police said Friday morning.

According to a police media release, the 22-year-old cyclist died overnight.

He had been travelling west on Ogilvie Road, near Blair Road, at around 11 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a vehicle travelling in the same direction.

The cyclist was not wearing a helmet and when paramedics arrived, he was lying unconscious on Ogilvie Road in front of the Gloucester Centre mall.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
