One of the last known images of Melissa Richmond was captured on a gas station's surveillance system at about 11:30 p.m. on July 24, 2013. CBC Ottawa is covering the first-degree murder trial of Canadian soldier Howard Richmond, who has admitted to killing his wife, Melissa Richmond,in 2013 andhas pleaded not guilty.

Howard Richmond's defence is arguing the soldierisn't criminally responsible for the killing because he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder caused by six tours of duty.
