Kelly Morrisseau murder possibly linked to 2 others

Gatineau police are investigating the possibility an unsolved 2006 murder could be linked to two murder investigations in Ottawa.

Const. Pierre Lanthier of the Gatineau Police said Marc Leducs DNA is being analyzed in Montreal to see if he had any involvement in the murder of Kelly Morrisseau.

He said no arrest is imminent and he's not a suspect, but rather a "person of interest."

Morrisseau, who grew up on Manitobas Sagkeeng First Nation, lived in Ottawa and was found naked and bleeding in a Gatineau Park parking lot on Dec. 10, 2006.

The mother of three, who at the time was pregnant with a fourth child, died later in hospital.

Leduc facing murder, sexual assault charges in Ottawa

Leduc was charged with first-degree murder in February in connection with the deaths of Pamela Kosmack and Leanne Lawson in 2008 and 2011, respectively.

Lanthier said theyve been waiting a few months to get DNA results after reaching out to Ottawa police following those charges.

Were still in contact with Morrisseaus family, as soon as we receive the results well let them know, he said, adding they're expecting them by January.

Bridget Tolley, an activist for missing and murdered aboriginal women with Families of Sisters in Spirit, visited the parking lot where Morrisseau was found on Tuesday.

"Everybody is a human being, no matter what they do or who they love, or who they choose to be, a human is a human and a life is a life," she said.

"Kelly has a mother, I have a mother, you have a mother, we're all loved by somebody, so somebody does care."

Gatineau police also reached out to police in Winnipeg in the summer of 2012 after a man was charged in connection with the deaths of three Aboriginal women.

Leduc is also facing charges for allegedly breaking into a young womans Ottawa apartment and sexually assaulting her in November of 2012.
