'Numerous fatalities' after small plane crashes in Kingston, Ont.

A small planecrashed in Kingston, Ont., on Wednesday, resulting in "numerous fatalities" according to police.

A small planecrashed in Kingston, Ont., on Wednesday, resulting in "numerous fatalities" according to police.

It's not known how many people were on board the plane identified as a six-seaterPiper PA-32 by the Transportation Safety Board which came down in a wooded area in the north-west region of the city, but police said no one aboard survived.

Emergency crews were called to the area near Creekford Road and Bayridge Drive sometime before 6:30 p.m. ET, said Const. Ash Gutheinz, a spokesperson for Kingston Police

"We had numerous officers at the scene attempting to locate the plane," he said. "It's areas of woodland and marsh that was in the search radius."

Members of 8 Wing Trenton helped in the search with a helicopter.

CBCNews does not yet know where the plane took off or where it was headed.

TSB crash investigators will travel to the site on Thursday morning.
