Man arrested at home of Jagtar Gill, Ottawa homicide victim

A second suspect was arrested Sunday at the home of homicide victim Jagtar Gill, a 43-year-old woman found stabbed to death in January.

Ottawa police have arrested a second suspect connected to the death of Jagtar Gill, the citys first homicide victim of 2014.

The police major crimes unit arresteda man Sunday morning at Gill's homeand he is being questioned at the Ottawa police station, police sources told CBC News.

Gill, 43, was found dead by her husband,Bhupinderpal, andher 15-year-old daughter on Jan. 29in the living room of her home at174BramblingWay.

That was one day after she had hernia surgery and it was also the day of her 17th wedding anniversary.

Gurpreet Ronald, a 34-year-old married mother of two, has already been charged with first-degree murder after Gill was stabbed to death.

Bloody metal bar became new lead

There was a new lead in the Gill homicide investigation on Friday after a bloodstained metal bar was found in a wooded area on the west side of Cedarview Road, about 300 metres north of Cambrian Road.

Sources told CBC News the metal bar could be linked to Gills death. Police also asked the public if anyone saw the bar thrown into the wooded area.

Police believe this bar was used to strike Gill before she was stabbed, sources said.

None of these allegations have been proven in court.

Sources have also told CBC News Ronald and Gills husband were close and they were bothOC Transpobus drivers.Ronald also lives on Towhee Place, one street over from the Gill family home.

Ronald'snext court appearance is scheduled, via video, for Wednesday.
