The death of longtime Ottawa broadcaster and noted philanthropist Max Keeping has led to an outpouring of tweets from people remembering both his journalistic integrity and his passion for charitable causes.

People shared their memories of longtime Ottawa news anchor Max Keeping after his death was announced Thursday afternoon.

The death of longtime Ottawa broadcaster and noted philanthropist Max Keeping has led to an outpouring of tweets from people remembering both hisjournalistic integrity and his passion for charitable causes.

Keeping, 73, died after a long battle with cancer.

He spent 38 years anchoring CTV Ottawa's 6 o'clock newscast before retiring in 2010, and when he wasn't behind the newsdeskKeeping was a tireless fundraiser for causes and organizationslike the Canadian Cancer Relay for Life and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
