Police bust Nepean grow-op, seize $300,000 worth of marijuana

An Ottawa man faces multiple drug charges after police busted a grow-op earlier this week and seized $300,000 worth ofmarijuana plants.

On Jan. 19, police executed search warrants in the 0-100 block of Sovereign Avenue in Nepean and the 100 block of Wharhol Private in Bells Corners.

Officers discovered a "large scale" marijuana grow-op inside the Sovereign Avenue residence, the Ottawa Police Service said in a release Thursday.

In addition to 300 marijuana plants, officersalso seized smaller amounts of marijuana, methamphetamine and MDA, as well as 117 "unknown capsules" and a small amount of an "unknown powder," police said.

They also seized $14,050 in Canadian currency, said the release.

A 32-year-old man wan was arrested at the home and faces multiple drug possession charges, as well as one count of producing marijuana and one count of theft.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 17, police said.
