Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre to get 53 new correctional officers, province says

The Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre has six new correctional officers and another 53 are being recruited and trained, according to the province.

The Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre has six new correctional officers and another 53 are being recruited and trained, according to the province.

On Friday, Ontario's ministry of community safety and correctional servicesannounced that 180 new correctional officers are currently being recruited and will go throughtraining at a later date. Of those, 40 are supposed to go to theOCDC.

Earlier in January, the ministry announced that144 new correctionalofficers arein an eight-week training program, 13 of whom are supposed to go to theOCDC when their training is finished.

And in December,the ministry announced that91 new officers hadrecently completed training and were deployed. Six of those were sentto the OCDC.
