Heat warning in place for Ottawa

The hot, humid weather will settle back in for the weekend, and likely won't lift until Monday, Environment Canada said Friday.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Ottawa area.

The agency issued the warning around 3 p.m. Friday as the hot, humid weather preparedto settle back in over the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to hit the low 30s with humidity making it feel even warmer. People are warned to stay hydrated and keep out of the heat as much as possible.

The mercury won't drop until Monday at the earliest, but there is a chance of thunderstorms on Sunday that could cool things down.

The warning is also in place for Gatineau, and extends west of the capital to Renfrew, Ont., and east to Cornwall, Ont.

There's a 30 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms this afternoon and early this evening in the Kingston area.

Tonight's low is 18 C, and Saturday will feel as hot as 35.
