Woman dies after being shot in vehicle, left at Ottawa hospital

Ottawa police say a 20-year-old woman was shot, brought to hospital by a driver who left the scene, and then died on Monday evening.

Ottawa police say a 20-year-old woman was shot, brought to hospital by a driver who left the scene, and then died on Monday evening.

Ottawa police said they were called to the General campus of The Ottawa Hospital around 6:15 p.m. Monday for a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

The woman, Sahur Yare of Ottawa,was pronounced dead around 90 minutes later, police said.

Sources say Yare and her boyfriend wereriding in a car operated by a drivingservice on Monday evening when police believe that vehicle was shot at.

Greenboro residents say theyre surprised and scared knowing that a 20-year-old woman died after the vehicle she was riding in was shot at Monday night.

The bullets entered the vehicle on the passenger side of the car, according to sources, while it was travelling in the area of Johnston Road and Pennard Wayin the city's Greenboro neighbourhood.

The driver of the car dropped off both the injured Yare and her boyfriend at theGeneral campus and then left the scene, according to sources, and police later found the driver on Othello Drive near the Elmvale Acres mall.

Police continue to investigate.
