Police investigating death in Prince Edward County

One man is dead after an incident Sunday evening at Point Petre on the shores of Lake Ontario, Ontario Provincial Police said.

Emergency services responded to Point Petre just before 7 p.m. Sunday

One man is dead after an incident Sunday evening on the shores of Lake Ontario in Prince Edward County.

Police, fire rescue and paramedics responded to reports of people in the water nearPoint Petre just before 7 p.m., according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary also assisted, OPP said in a media release Monday.

A 35-year-old Prince Edward County man was pronounced dead, police said.

OPP have not confirmed whether the man drowned, but they are reminding thepublic to exercise caution around water, have life-jackets on handand remember that weather conditions can change quickly.

The investigation is ongoing.
