Rideau Centre theatre closing on March 21

The days are numbered for a downtown Ottawa theatre.

The Empire Theatres location at the Rideau Centre is closing March 21 after its lease runs out.

The company said its new location at Lansdowne Park is the reason the three-screen theatre is shutting down.

The Rideau Centre has had a theatre for 30 years, with Empire Theatres taking over the lease in 2005.

The mall isn't saying what they're planning for the approximately 15,000 square foot space.
