The 2014 Legacy Garden in Charlottetown is building an accessible area to allow people with disabilities an opportunity to take part in the community gardening experience.

There's nothing like this- Phil Ferraro

The new section of the garden, located behind the Farm Centre, will include raised and hanging garden beds. Some picnic tables have been converted into the raised garden beds, and a new walkway at the entrance will be built. New ground cover is planned to make access easier for wheelchairs.

The revamped area will be about 30 by 30 meters. Farm Centre general manager Phil Ferraro said people were asking for the garden.

"Far as I know of, in the area there's nothing like this," said Ferraro.

"I think that once we get it established we'll start advertising for next season and I suspect there will be a fairly big demand for the spots."

The centre will mainly be promoting the beds for next season. A few beds are available right now, but it is late in the season to start gardening.

Ferraro is also looking at putting in games like lawn bowling, horseshoes, and croquet at the garden.
