'It kind of clears the head'

Shannon Burt has a short urban commute up North River Road in Charlottetown, just an eight-minute ride, but he toldCBC'sIsland Morning it helps the transition from home to work.

"There's a little bit of sense of adventure coming to work. It kind of clears the head," he said.

"And then, coming home, it's that same thing. You get to pedal off any frustration."

'Beautiful island scenes'

It's too long for a commute every day, but Omair Imtiazhas managed the 75-kilometre round trip from Charlottetown to Belfast, P.E.I., a few times this year.

"Almost 40 kilometresthrough beautiful island scenes!" he wrote on CBC P.E.I.'s Facebook page.

"Since it's a 75 kilometre round trip I keep an eye out for the weather, especially the wind."

More than just a ride to work

Commuting is okay, said Joanne MacNevin, but she likes to get more out of her bicycle.

"I like biking to work when it's nice out," said MacNevin,

"But I love going for a nice, long cycle after work along the trails, or out around Stanhopeand Brackley."

Four paws and four wheels

Susan Naylor is set up for a commute with her dog.
