Judge steps aside in impaired driving case against Holland College president

P.E.I. provincial court Judge John Douglas has recused himself in the impaired-driving case against Holland College president Brian McMillan.

P.E.I. provincial court Judge John Douglas has recused himself in the impaireddriving case against Holland College president Brian McMillan.

Holland College president Brian McMillan is now scheduled to appear in court Monday on impaired driving charges.

Douglas said he couldn't hear the case as he has a family member who works with McMillan at Holland College.

McMillan was expected to make an appearance Thursdaymorning in P.E.I. provincial court.McMillan's lawyer appeared on his behalf, however,and just long enough for Douglas to recuse himself from the case.

McMillanis nowscheduled to be incourtMondayafternoonappearing before a new judge,Nancy Orr.

McMillan was charged with impaired driving in May, and earlier this monthtook a two-month leave of absence from his job and started counselling.
