Catherine MacLellan leads P.E.I. at ECMAs

With nominations for folk recording of the year and songwriter of the year, Catherine MacLellan leads P.E.I. artists for ECMA nominations, announced Wednesday.

With nominations for folk recording of the year andsongwriter of the year, Catherine MacLellan leads P.E.I. musicians for ECMA nominations, which were announced Wednesday.

In total, Island artists received eight music nominations, three industry nominations, and two fans choice picks.

Rock Recording of the Year

Country Recording of the Year

  • Trinity Bradshaw - Open Skies

Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year

  • Irish Mythen - Irish Mythen

Songwriter of the Year

  • Catherine MacLellan - The Ravens Sun (Composers: Catherine MacLellan and Chris Gauthier)

Traditional Instrumental Recording of the Year

  • The East Pointers - The East Pointers

World Recording of the Year

  • The Count and The Cuban Cocktail Influence

Fans' Choice Entertainer of the Year

  • Paper Lions

Fans' Choice Video of the Year

Catherine MacLellan has also been selected to perform at the gala April 12 in St. John's, NL. Ashley Condonwill perform on the Rising Star stage and Paper Lions will participate in a Songwriting Circle.

Island-raised singer-songwriterJenn Grant also received several nominations, as did the band Hey Rosetta, which featuresP.E..I fiddler Kinley Dowling, andIn-Flight Safety, whosedrummer Glen Nicholson is from P.E.I.. Islander Daniel Ledwellnow lives in Nova Scotia with his wife Jenn Grant; he was nominated for Producer of the Year.
