The city of Charlottetown is reviewing the rules that allowhome-baseddaycares.

Staff saythey havereceivedcalls from concerned residents, which prompteda closer look at the bylaw.

They saythey found there were two different rules relating to the establishment of these facilities.

One part of the bylawstates the operator must own the property, yet another sectionsays a person only has to reside at the home, meaning renters could establishhome daycares, as well.

Coun.GregRivard, chair of the planning committee, says the city wants to change the bylaw to reflect thatas long as the operator resides in the home and meets all other criteria, the daycare is allowable.

"Staff reviewed the bylaw ... andbelieve that it was a typo of some sort, so anytime there's any kind ofamendmentor review of the bylaw and a proposedamendment, that does go through the public consultation process," said Rivard.

A public meeting will take placeMondayevening at 7 p.m. in the Charlottetown Council Chambers.
