Photos taken of Fort McMurray from the air show the stark contrast between areas that burned in a devastating wildfire and the parts of the city that were saved.

Shawn Kennedy, who is from P.E.I. but was evacuated during the wildfire, took the photos as he was flying out of the city on Sunday.

"It just goes to to show how the fire completely surrounded the city and how hard the firefighters worked to save the majority of it," he said in a Facebook post.
