Lobster fishery on North Shore opens Friday

The spring lobster fishery in area 24, along the north coast of P.E.I., will open Friday, announced Fisheries and Oceans Canada on Wednesday.

The opening date for Lobster Fishing area 26A, on the Island's south side, has not been determined yet.

DFO sayshigher than normal ice accumulations andweather conditions this spring may lead tosome delays in the placement of navigational aids. Therefore, the department is advising fishermen to take extra care when navigating certain areas.
