Mrs. Dunster's expands bakery operations in P.E.I.

Mrs. Dunster's Inc., a family-owned New Brunswick company, is expanding its operation in P.E.I. with almost $400,000 in federal and provincial funding.

Mrs.Dunster'sInc., afamily-owned New Brunswick company, is expanding its operation inP.E.I. with almost $400,000 infederal and provincial funding.

The company will use the moneyto increase production at the SnairsGolden Grain Ltd. bakeryinBorden-Carleton it purchasedin 2015.Artisan breads and rolls are presentlyproduced in the facility.

"The investments we have made and continue to make in the Borden bakery will help us continue to keep up with increasing demand from our customers for great tasting, local fresh baked goods made right here in the Maritimes," said BlairHyslop, company president, in a press release.

Mrs.Dunster'sInc., known for its homemade donuts, producesbaked goods which aresold fresh in 600 stores throughout the Maritimes and Maine.

HeathMacDonald, minister of Economic Development and Tourism, said the company has almost doubled the staff since it took over the bakery.

"Since Mrs. Dunster's assumed control of the facility it's nearly doubled its staff, with 20 full time and 13 part time employees."

The grants will help the company purchase equipment, pay for facility improvements and staff training.
