P.E.I. man charged in Confederation Bridge incident

Scott AlexanderMcNallyof Borden-Carleton, P.E.I. faces several charges includingbeing criminally negligent in the operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, in connection with an incident on Confederation Bridge early Tuesday morning.

McNally, 28,isalso charged withflight from police,theft of a vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and three additional counts of causing damage to motor vehicles.

The charges come after a series of events on the Confederation Bridge Tuesday morning.

RCMPsaid they received a report at around 5:45 a.m. that a man was on the 12.9-kilometre bridge.

Bridge officials say theyfound the man and were able to get him into one of their service trucks.

When the official who was driving the service truck went to speak withRCMPofficers,the man moved from the passenger seat to the driver's seat and sped off toward the New Brunswick side of the bridge, according to police.

The RCMP officerwashospitalizedand the bridge was closed for several hours.

McNallywill be kept in custody until his next court date, September 21.

RCMP say the investigation continues.
