Nearly $1M in funding announced to promote Cavendish tourism

Three organizations in the Cavendish area will receive $931,000 in federal and provincial funding.

Three organizations in the Cavendish area will receive $931,000 in federal and provincial funding.

The money will go to Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Sandspit Amusement Park, and Tourism Cavendish Beach in an effort to increase the number of visitors that come to the area.

"Prince Edward Island is a tourism gem, and the Green Gables Shore Region holds a special place in the hearts of many visitors and Islanders alike," said MP for Malpeque Wayne Easter in a news release.

"I am pleased to announce these Government of Canada investments to support their work in attracting more visitors and contributing to our Island economy."

ACOAwill provide the bulk of the funding,$782,131.

The agency will giveSandspit Amusement Park a loan of$350,000 to introduce a new ride, and to make upgrades to the park and its infrastructure.

It will also give Cavendish Beach Music Festival a loan of $348,621 to develop a site plan, carry out land improvements and create permanent infrastructure.

ACOA will also provide Tourism Cavendish Beach with a non-repayable contribution of $84,500. The province will contribute $148,400 to the organization.
