Bell Aliant Centre at UPEI gets $10K from Rotary clubs

The pool at UPEI is becoming more accessible to people with mobility issues thanks to a donation by Rotary clubs in Charlottetown.

The Rotary clubs of Charlottetown, Hillsborough and Charlottetown Royalty donated $10,000 to the Bell Aliant Centre's aquatics facility.

The money will be used to fund an adjustable adult changingtable and portable stairs, whichwill ensurepatrons with mobility issues can move from thechangingroom to pool deck with ease.

"This is a welcomed and generous contribution that will benefit all patrons of our aquatics complex who have any type of mobility issues.Now, thanks to rotary, we have a fresh new adapted change room and seamless transition from pool deck to pool," saidSueFraser, thegeneral manager of the BellAliantCentre and member of theHillsboroughRotary Club, in a statement.

The BellAliantCentre is a non-profit recreation centre located on theUPEIcampus and is used by more than 100,000 people each year, said the news release.
