Woman dead, child seriously injured in single-vehicle crash in Kings County

A 35-year-old Kings County woman is dead and a child is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle collision Friday on 48Road in Head of Cardigan.

A 35-year-old Kings County woman is dead and a child is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle collision Friday on 48Road in Head of Cardigan, P.E.I.

According to an RCMP news release, Kings District RCMP, fire departments and Island EMS responded to a call at about 5:30 p.m.

They found a car that had left the road and come to rest in a ditch. The driver of the vehiclewas pronounced dead at the scene and a child was transported to hospital.

A collision reconstructionist attended and the investigation is ongoing. The48Road was closed for several hours but is now open.
