Cows also won for best Atlantic Canada cheese and best smoked cheese at the Canadian awards.

There were some wins from other parts of the Maritimes, too.

"That Dutchman's Cheese Farm" in Upper Economy, N.S., won for best gouda and best blue cheese.

The competition accepts cheese used with several kinds of milk, including cow, goat, sheep and even water buffalo.
