Poplar Grove industrial accident claims life of P.E.I. man

RCMP say a 46-year-old man from western P.E.I. who worked in the shellfish industry died in a Friday morning industrial accident related to his work.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday morning by East Prince RCMP

The incident is being investigated by East Prince RCMP, the coroner's office and occupational health and safety officials.

At about 10:30 a.m., East Prince RCMP were dispatched to Poplar Grove, P.E.I., where aman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Because of the complexity of the case, we're not releasing many details at this point," said RCMPspokesperson Cpl. Scott Stevenson.

The incident is being investigated by East Prince RCMP, the coroner's office and occupational health and safety officials.

Stevenson said the investigations will be "separate, but collaborative."

More details will be releasedas the investigation unfolds.

Stevenson said an autopsy will likely take place this weekend.
