Fuel prices took a dive on P.E.I. Friday morning.

It was part of the regular weekly price review from the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.

Prices were down for gas, heating oil and diesel.

  • The minimum price of gas at the pump fell 6.9 cents to $1.666.
  • The minimum price of diesel at the pump fell 5.8 cents to $1.697.
  • The maximum price for heating oil dropped 3.2 cents to $1.176.

It is not unusual for the price of gas to fall this time of year.

The summer driving season is coming to an end, and with it the price of gasoline.

P.E.I. also saw big drops in the price of gas in the last week of August in 2022 (down 6.9 cents) and 2023 (down 3.6 cents).

The next scheduled price review from IRAC is Aug. 30.
