There was a dramatic drop in fires Halloween night on P.E.I. this year, according to the provincial fire marshal Dave Rossiter.

"Last night was very quiet. We're ecstatic about the results of that," he said.

"When you look at it over the past number of years, the number of responses were down dramatically."

There were some small malicious tire and garbage fires, the fire marshal told CBC News.

In West Prince there were five structure fires in vacant buildings, in the communities of Miminegash, O'Leary and Tignish.

RCMP are investigating.
