Richard Arsenault pleads guilty to five charges in 'screen cutter' trial

Richard Joseph Arsenault, the accused in the so-called screen cutter burglaries in Charlottetown, Stratford and Cornwall, has pleaded guilty to five charges.

Arsenault's trial began a week ago in connectionto 17 charges.He initially pleaded not guilty.

Arsenault has now entered guilty pleas on four counts of break and enter, and one count of wearing a mask during one of those break and enters.

The other charges have been stayed, however some of the facts connected to the other charges will be read into the record at Arsenault's sentencing.

The Crown and the defence are jointly recommending nine years in prison, less the time Arsenault has already served in custody.

His sentencing is scheduled for Friday.

Still faces charge for possession of the proceeds of crime

Arsenaultisalso charged with possession of the proceeds of crime, but that charge was not part of this trial.

He is also scheduled to appear in court on Friday to face that charge.
