UPEI'sexecutive MBA program is offering something a little different this coming fall: a special, one-time focus on public sector management.

The executive MBA, offered byUPEIsince 2008, gives business professionals a chance to earn their masters degree while they continue to work. About 25 people enroll annually.

"Most of our students do come from the Island and so we were looking for ways that we might tailor our curriculum to attract particular sections or areas of the market," explains program coordinator GraceMcCourt.

So they did some research, and found there was a need for a graduate-level education aimed at people working in the municipal, provincial and federal governments.

"This year it is a public sector one and it's just a great opportunity for public sector managers that are looking for some courses with some public sector focus but also getting an MBA simultaneously."

McCourtexpects in future, the executive MBA will change its focus to other areas.

Classes are offered biweekly on Fridays and Saturdays with the option to complete the program in 20 months.
