P.E.I. tourism minister says bookings up for provincial parks

It's already looking like it could be a good year for provincial parks, saysP.E.I.'s Economic Development and Tourism Minister HeathMacDonald, notingearly bookings for provincialcampgrounds are a good sign.

"Total sales are up 15 per cent compared to last year, nights booked are up with 12 per cent more than last year," said MacDonald.

"And the number of reservations in total is 33 per cent. So there has been a real increase in interest in our provincial parks for 2016."

Visitors will notice improvements at several provincial parks, MacDonaldadds.

Those include new washrooms at the day park at Red Point, new camping cabins at Brudenell provincial park and new washrooms at Linkletter provincial park.

The minister expects the parks will open on time this year.Last year some were delayed because of the lingeringwinter.
