Island seafood a hit in Boston, says minister

Island seafood has been a hit this week at the Seafood Expo North America in Boston,Agriculture and Fisheries Minister AlanMcIsaacsays.

It's the second-largest seafood show in the world, with about 1,200 booths representing 40 countries.

"This is where you make sure you maintain the markets that you have and look to build and grow that," said McIsaac. "This is one place you pretty well have to be from what I understand from speaking to many, many people over the last few days."

There were about 100 people in theP.E.I. delegation, including seafood processors and manufacturers.

Island exhibitors have been pleased with the response, said McIsaac,and are optimistic the effortwill translate into more business.

"You know what's interesting?" said McIsaac. "I jumped into a taxi the other day and he asked me where we were from. I said we're from P.E.I. and he said to me 'Man I love those P.E.I. mussels!'"

P.E.I. hosted a popular reception in BostonMonday nightfeaturing Island seafood, potatoes and beef.Tuesday was the final day for the show.
