Men's shelter set to reopen Monday

P.E.I.'s only homeless shelter for men is set to reopen Monday for the first time since June.

Eight beds will be available at Bedford MacDonald House,in Charlottetown,on a first-come, first-served basis.

A group of local churches has also stepped in to help.Delays in staffing meant the shelter wouldn't open by Christmas.

The Salvation Army was set to buy the shelter, butbacked outin November due to structural concerns.

Last week, the provincial government announced aone-time donationof $20,000 to support the cost of reopening the shelter.

Last spring an employee at the shelter was charged withsexual assaultof a client.
