The restoration project at the MacphailWoods in Kings County has been renewed for 10 years.

The province announced Tuesday the license agreement with the Environmental Coalition of Prince Edward Island would continue for the 2,000-acre woods.

"Upon reviewing the successes resulting from this initial forestry project agreement, it was an easy decision to support the continuation and growth of this great work," said Robert Mitchell, Minister of Communities, Land and Environment.

"This project has seen trails created, the planting of more than 10,000 trees and shrubs, multiple forest management plans completed, the establishment of a migratory bird banding station, and much more. I look forward to seeing what takes place throughout the next decade of this agreement."

"Our partnership with the provincial government is important to us," said Gary Schneider, Macphail Woods project manager. "We welcome the opportunity to continue making improvements on these public forest lands and improving both the health and value of these woodlands."
