More than 95,000 Saskatchewan residents vote at advance polls

Advancepolling details are in for Saskatchewan and the numbers are way up.

According to Elections Canada, more than 95,000 Saskatchewan residents voted ahead of time this year more than double the number for the 2011 federal election.

In 2011, 44,779 people voted at advancepolls in Saskatchewan. This year, 95,829 people voted early.

Elections Canada attributes part of that increase to the extra voting day that was added. Sunday advancepolling was offered for the first time this year.

• On-campus and friendship centre polling brings in 70,000

There were big increases in the urban ridings, especially Saskatoon-West with more than 10,000 ballots cast in that riding alone.
