The Canadian Western Agribition, the annual trade show that is one of Regina's signature events, is underway this week.

"We have 450 exhibitors this year," Chris Lane, CEO of Agribition, said. "That makes us the fourth-largest trade show in Canada."

When it comes to the agricultural component, Lane noted that 2,500 animals are part of this year's show including 1,500 head of cattle. That makes Agribition the largest show for livestock producers in the country.

A new event this year is Running with the Bulls, scheduled for Saturday.

"That is kind of our daredevil, extreme sport event for the year," Lane said. He explained that the first 75 people who sign on to participate will be involved in attempting to outrun rodeo bulls at the Brandt Centre.

"We put you on the rodeo dirt and we throw the gates open to three rodeo bulls at a time and the idea is to outrun them," Lane explained.

The audience is also involved and will be voting to select a winning participant who will receive a $1,500 prize.

Lane said the exhibitors are excited about being in the new International Trade Centre, which is partially completed. It will be completely finished in time for next year's show.

This is the 46th year for Agribition.
