Cut your own Christmas tree at Prince Albert National Park

This year, you can cut your own Christmas tree at Prince Albert National Park.

In 2002, trees and vegetation were clearedin an area ofPrince Albert National Park near Waskesiu to reduce the risk of forest fires spreading.A number of spruce trees have grown back since then, limiting the effectiveness of the fuel break.

Visitors to thepark between now and Dec. 25 are allowed to cut their own Christmas tree from these spruces.

Important things to remember:

• You must have a valid day or annual pass
• A tree permit is required and can be picked up at the Visitor Centre in Waskesiu at no cost.
• The tree must be accessed on foot, so dress accordingly.
• The tree must be cut down with a handsaw or axe.
