Flowers, orange hard hat placed on memorial to flag person

A roadside memorial hasbeen setup for the young highway worker who died on the job this summer.

Ashley Richards, an 18-year-old flag person originally from Lakeside, N.B., died in August after being struck by avehicle on Highway 39 near Midale, Sask.

She died in the arms of her boyfriend, who later told CBC shehad beenpregnant with their child.

On the highway where it happened, there are now several crosses, bunches of flowers and messages.

Draped overone of the crosses is a flag person'sfluorescent vest and orange hard hat.

Among the messages left behind is this one, written on a cross: "I will never forget orstop loving you Ashley Richards."

On Monday, police announced that aRegina man, Keith Dunford, 44, had been charged with criminal negligence causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

Dunford's case came up in Weyburn provincial court on Tuesday, although he did not appear in person.

Instead, the lawyer for Keith Dunford, 44, appeared on his behalf.

Dunford's charges have been adjourned to Nov 20.
