Funeral held for man, 18, shot on Halloween night in Regina

Family and friends of Nolen Tanner, who was shot and killed on Halloween night in Regina, gathered Friday for the 18-year-old's funeral.

People packed into the Metis Fellowship Centre where a service took place to remember Tanner. The teen is said to have been a happy person and a good friend.

Tanner left behind an infant son, who was born just a few months ago.

Police were called to a home in the 500 block of Montreal Street in the early morning onNov. 1 after receiving reports of a fight in a backyard that spilled onto the street.

Neighbours recalled gunshots ringingout at a house party where Tanner had been at.

Police said Tanner was shot and killed.

On an online funeral guest book page friends and family left messages for the Tanner family.

"My heart goes out to all my Tanner family," wrote one person. "I will be praying for strength and comfort for all those who loved and cared for him deeply."

"My son and I will sing an honour song for Nolen today to help begin his journey and to help with your healing," the message continued.

Elijah Noname, 22, was initially charged with first degree murder in connection with Tanner's death, but that charge was later withdrawn. He is now facing a second degree murder chargeand is scheduled to appear in court on Nov.19.
